Culture

Culture

is a term used by social scientists for a people's whole way of life. In everyday conversation the word 'culture' may refer to activities in such fields as art, literature, and music. But to social scientists, a people's culture consists of all the ideas, objects, and ways of doing things created by the group. Culture includes arts, beliefs, customs, inventions, language, technology and traditions. The term 'civilization' is similar, but it refers mostly to scientifically more advanced ways of life. A culture is any way of life, simple or complex.

Example culture

Halloween

an annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.

Different culture between thai and western

Western: Very much an individualistic culture
Thai: Very much a community/cooperative culture

Western: There is always a need for urgency, it must be done now!
Thai: There is no need for urgency, it will happen

Western: Some show their ego’s very loudly, from the way that they walk to the way they talk.
Thai: People are very gentle and subtle in everything that they do, it is important to show humility - be humble.

Western: There are very few cultural and social rules and these are not very ingrained.
Thai: there are many social and cultural rules which are very much a part of who the Thai people are and these are learned from a very young age.

The most important thing to remember is that we have come here because of a feeling that we want to help the Thai people to rebuild their lives. We must try to learn about Thai culture and be respectful. If we do not do this there is no point to us being here.

1.Miss Universe 2010

Mexico's Jimena Navarrete was crowned Miss Universe Monday night in an upset victory that stunned a pageant world which had predicted a winner to emerge from Ireland, Venezuela or the United States. The 22-year-old from Guadalajara, resplendent in a flowing ruby-red evening gown, has been modeling since she was 15, but nothing could quite prepare her for her moment of glory.

"I did feel surprised, I just went blank," the brunette beauty said of her crowning achievement. "There was nothing going through my mind.

I was in a state of shock." Beyond the diamond-encrusted tiara affixed to her head when the announcers declared she had triumphed over runner-up Miss Jamaica, Yendi Phillipps, Navarrete receives a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy, and a year's supply of shoes, dresses and hair products.

I think Jimena Navarrete is very beautiful. I like her. She's sexy and beautiful smile. She has won the right to miss universe.

3. Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is still healthy but he keeps quiet as does not want to be linked with political issues, people close to him said yesterday.

Thaksin's brother-in-law Somchai Wongsawat - also a former prime minister - said Thaksin had greeted him by telephone on Sunday. Thaksin was not somewhere near Thailand and he was healthy.

"Thaksin has no signs of illness. His voice is still clear and he is healthy. If he were really sick, the Shinawatra family would have no reason to conceal it. If Thaksin has some sickness, it must be [emotional], as he misses his home and his kids. Although Khunying Pojaman Na Pombejra is his ex-wife, he still misses her," Somchai said.

I think this should not convict people out of creating the country Country it should be news to more content.

Damoen Saduak Floating Market

Damnernsaduak is believed to be one of a well-known and an attractuve travelling sites. Historically, Damnoenssaduak was actually the name of the canal dug in the reign of King Rama IV by the military men and the people of Rajburi, Samutsakorn and Samutsongkram Province directed by Phayasrisuriyawong, the minister of Defence. In those days without rivers and canals, transportation was almost motionless; King Rama IV with his great concern over the country's future economic growth, he finally had the canal dug to connect the Taachin River in Samutsakorn Province and Maklong River in Samutsongkram Province together.

Nowadays Damnoensaduak is one of a provincial district of Rajburi Province. Most people live densely along both sides of the canal from one end of the canal to another. The majority of this people are agriculturists. They grow several different kinds of fruit and vegetable for examples oranges, grapes, papayas, cabbages, bean, onion and etc. The land in this area is naturally fertile. Apart from providing transportation, Damnoensaduak Canal also provides farmers with adequate water for agricultural purposes for the whole year around. More than 200 small canals were dug by local peasants to connect with it to get water to splatter their land. Moreover; these small canals also become protitiouus ways of taking their agricultural products to the markets in neighbouring provinces and Bangkok.

Day in and day out from about 8 a.m. to about 11 a.m. the Floating Market is routinely crowded with hundrreds of vendors and purchasers floating in their small rowing boats selling and buying or exchanging their goods. What they purchase are particularly food, fruit and vegetable which mostly brought from their own orchards. They usually travel on their small rowing boats. however; today the long-tailed boats pushing by engine become very popular. People tend to use them instead. Anyhow because of the shortage of fuel today long-tailed boats are quite unavailable compared to a few years ago.

Damnoen Saduak in Ratchaburi about 109 kilometres south of Bangkok or approximately 2 hours drive.
